Douglas W. Miller | President & CEO
Douglas is a highly-regarded business and financial expert with more than 20 years of experience leading global organizations in the US and UK, in finance, entertainment, publishing, supply chain management, and information technology. Douglas founded and led the Knowledge Management Group as Head of Global IT Development during his six years at Unilever – one of the largest consumer goods companies in the world with annual sales of more than $48 billion. Douglas' expertise also includes structuring and running regulated film investment funds in the UK which raised and managed over $500 million and produced 23 feature films. Douglas was a Logistics Officer in the United States Marine Corps and was highly decorated for his service in the 1991 Gulf War. B.A. Economics, Harvard University.
Tony Spencer, Ph.D. | Chief Marketing Officer
Tony has over 17 years’ leadership experience in military, educational, and corporate management. An accomplished business strategist and advisor, Tony has extensive experience in business development and brand identity creation and extension. Tony has worked with corporate leaders from Sony, BMW and Lexus to Kingsford and NASCAR. He has also served as a brand and marketing advisor to NBC Universal. Attending Northwestern University on a highly-competitive National Science Foundation Fellowship, Tony graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Ph.D. in social and consumer psychology. Ken Richards | Chief Financial Officer
Ken has 25 years’ experience in corporate and investment banking, including serving as Managing Director with CIBC World Markets in Los Angeles and Toronto, and CFO of both public and private companies. Throughout his career, he has completed many large debt, high yield and equity financings, in both North America and across the globe. He is co-founder of the Westlake/Santa Barbara Chapter of Tech Coast Angels and previously served on TCA’s Board of Governors. (TCA is the largest angel-funding network in the U.S.) B.S. Eric Hixon | Chief Technology Officer
Eric has a long history in Silicon Valley as an entrepreneur, investor, and advisor to startups. Prior to LinkMe Mobile, Eric was a co-Founder of MediaMaster, which focused on storing, playing and organizing music on the internet. It was acquired in 2009. He has also served as co-Managing Partner of the Gideon Hixon Fund. After building and growing his start-up, WebCal, which was acquired by Yahoo in 1998, Eric worked on the PIM products as part of the Yahoo Mail team. Previously, he worked at Torque Systems on systems integration for the pre-press industry. He is based in Palo Alto, California. B.S. Computer Science, New York University; M.S. Ted Specht | Chief Engineer
Ted served as a NASA/JPL engineer for over 25 years, developing mission software and working on semantic web research. During this time he developed a wide range of projects including government regulatory compliance software, spy plane navigation systems, deep space robotic missions, and one space shuttle mission. Tom Garofalo | Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific
Tom has over 20 years’ experience in Asia, including two decades of senior engineering & marketing roles with DuPont (North America and Asia). He has extensive experience within Asia’s software & telecommunications industries, including President, North Asia Operations, Comverse Technology (software/mobile media systems); VP, Century Computers Inc (telecom IP); and Regional Vice President, Auspec Systems (enterprise storage systems). He served for eight years as an advisor to the Singapore government's Economic Development Board and has assisted small and medium-sized enterprises to more fully develop a number of technology-based businesses. Tom has been an angel investor in digital media and internet security companies and has served on eight Boards of Directors including Denselight Pte Ltd, Mykenae and Titan Key. B.S. David Lowe | Vice President, Business Development, North America
David has over 18 years' experience in business development in media, advertising, publishing and technology sectors. His expertise includes introducing new technology products into markets as well as in securing market share. He was instrumental in building L90's business development team, reporting to the co-founder, and driving revenue growth through a $100 million NASDAQ IPO. He led the national sales team from launch of a new daily commuter paper, 24hours, in each major Canadian market (now the 5th largest paper by circulation in Canada) securing clients such as Dell, Warner Brothers and P&G. He has managed business development relationships with multinational companies including Intel, Hilton, Deloitte, Coca Cola, and Charles Schwab. B.A. Environmental Sciences, University of Toronto. Elizabeth Matthews | Vice President, Global Communications
A specialist in brand identity, viral marketing, public relations and communications, Elizabeth began her career in press & publicity at NBC News. At ad agency TBWA|Chiat|Day, Elizabeth developed campaigns for Fortune 500 powerhouses Levi Strauss, Reebok, Verizon, Nissan and Columbia TriStar. She has secured global media coverage for her clients with every major outlet from 60 Minutes, Oprah and Dateline to the Associated Press, the NY Times and Vogue. In 2002 Elizabeth founded strategic branding and public relations firm Newell + Matthews West in Los Angeles, CA. And in 2008, served as Executive Editor to launch luxury city and travel pub, LAX Magazine, in partnership with the City of Los Angeles, LAX Airport and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Jimmy Delshad
Jimmy is the first Iranian-American Mayor of Beverly Hills and the highest elected Iranian official in America. His story has been featured on the front cover of Wall Street Journal and within many international newspapers. As the Mayor he turned the City of Beverly Hills into “The Smartest City” in America using cutting edge technologies and created the City’s “Smart City” initiative. Reelected in 2007 for a one-year term, Jimmy will be the Mayor once more in 2010. He currently serves as Vice Mayor and has been a City Council member since 2003. After graduating from California State University in 1965 with a B.S. in Electronic Engineering, Jimmy embarked on a career in computer technology, and created an add-on computer storage industry. He formed his own company, American International Business, Inc (AIB), in 1978 in the then-new field of “Computer Storage Technology.” His company became a major supplier to most OEM firms like IBM and EMC. A few years later, he sold the manufacturing portion of AIB and turned his business into a consulting company. Jimmy was elected President of Sinai Temple in 1999, one of America’s largest Synagogues. Since 2004 he has served as President, Chairman and board member for a variety of non-profit organizations and is a frequent speaker at charity functions. In 2007, he was voted onto the list of 50 Most Influential Jews in America. Jimmy is a Co-Founder of Dream Team Gaming and remains an active advisor and entrepreneur in the gaming industry.
Bernard Frieder
Bernie has 20+ years’ experience in Silicon Valley, London and Israel as an entrepreneur, advisor to, and investor in technology start-ups. For eight years, Bernie served as a trusted commercial and policy advisor to Her Majesty’s Government (UK), initially as Vice Consul & Technology Sector Specialist, based in the San Francisco Consulate. In 2002, he relocated to London to create the position of Director, Emerging Technologies for the Office of the e-Envoy (OEE) in the UK Cabinet Office. Bernie’s remit included informing and advising the OEE, HM Treasury, senior Ministers and Members of Parliament, and the Department of Trade & Industry. In this position, he promoted UK/US cross border trade and investment – advised hundreds of UK firms on strategically targeting the US market; and assisted US firms seeking a foothold in Europe by identifying appropriate local partners and acquisition targets. In 2006, he moved to Tel Aviv, Israel, where he has been advising several stealth mode technology companies, raising investment capital, and launching new products. Bernie currently also serves as Founder and Managing Director of a revolutionary water purification technology company.
Andrew Pinder CBE
Andrew has an extensive and high profile career in information technology, in both the private and public sectors. From 2001 – 2004 he served in the British Government’s Cabinet Office, holding the role of Chief Information Officer of the United Kingdom (known as the “e-Envoy”), reporting directly to the Prime Minister, with a focus on developing the UK’s Knowledge Economy. He has recently sat on Intel’s Global Policy Advisory Board determining the global strategy for one of the world’s largest technology companies. Prior to his public service, Andrew was Head of Operations and Technology for Citibank NA’s Western European Region and Director of Operations and Technology for Prudential Plc. Prior thereto, he was Under Secretary and Director, IT Division of the British Government’s Inland Revenue service.
Lord Robin Russell
Lord Robin Russell has over 20 years’ hands-on experience as a private investor with expertise managing small and medium-sized organizations. He has extensive board experience on numerous for-profit and non-profit organizations. Among other involvements, Lord Robin is Trustee, Royal Parks Foundation (the Endowment for Royal Parks, U.K.); Co-Founder & Trustee, The Elephant Family Trust (international organization and leading U.K. non-profit for the preservation of Asian elephant habitat); and Founder and Trustee, The Benindi Fund (dedicated to environmental efforts worldwide, including species and habitat preservation and restoration). He was most recently SVP, Technology and Services for Peracon, the worldwide leading provider of commercial real estate transaction management for institutional brokers and investors. Prior to Peracon, Peter was the founder and CEO of the Identity Theft Defense Center, leading them from startup to become one of the leading enterprise-focused identity theft protection firms in the US. He was the Co-founder and CTO of Cipient Networks, inventing, developing, and implementing their world class platform for real-time event detection and scenario-driven response based on a massively distributed, secure, and scalable rule-base, now used in Homeland Security systems. William Hutchison | Founder & Chief Scientist
Dr. William Hutchison has worked for 26 years applying principles from behavioral and biological sciences to engineered products, including speech recognition and vision as well as the synthesis of the two. Bill was one of the independent inventors in 1983 of modern neural networks and cofounder of BehavHeuristics, Inc., which developed one of the earliest, largest, and most successful applications of the technology: a system that adaptively controlled pricing for USAir (and other airlines) to earn USAir $140 million in its first year. Bill has worked with the inner controls of IBM’s and Microsoft’s speech recognition engines in multiple commercial applications, and has also developed his own successful complete speech recognition system from the ground up, with sound signal processing and recognition processes designed and optimized by learning and by genetic algorithms in parallel. He also developed a successful genetically engineered vision system that has been applied with robots in complex real world scenes. Another of his 6 patents covers the biologically inspired architecture that enables vision to improve speech recognition and for speech to improve visual recognition. Jeff Dexter | CTO
Jeff is a widely respected system and information architect. He is the Director of Product Technology and Chief Architect at TigerLogic (formerly Raining Data), a leading XML middleware company. Before that, Jeff was System Architect at Cipient Networks, responsible for the core event processing engine. He was the lead architect of XML Query Technologies at TigerLogic and their representative on the W3C XML Query working group. Jeff has spent the last eight years in the field of information aggregation and database query. He was the designer and main implementer of the TigerLogic 1.0 high-performance query engine, and the architect and principal engineer on the TigerLogic 2.0 data server. B.S. T.V. Le is a consummate business developer and sales executive, with an unparalleled ability to create and close strategic opportunities.
